Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE

Clear Guidance from Application to Approval.

Valunxt helps you understand your registration deadline, prepare the required documents and submit your corporate tax application through EmaraTax.

Register Your Business with the FTA

Corporate tax registration establishes your business’s corporate tax account and provides a Corporate Tax Registration Number after approval.

Valunxt supports you from the initial requirement check through application preparation and follow-up. Whether you have recently established a company or need to address an outstanding registration, we help make the next steps clear.

  • Free FTA Registration. Government registration is free. Professional assistance fees are separate.
  • 20 Business Days. The FTA’s estimated processing time after receiving a completed application.
  • AED 10,000 Penalty. Late registration can attract a penalty, subject to applicable waiver provisions.

Who Needs Corporate Tax Registration?

Your legal structure and circumstances determine your registration requirements. Having no tax to pay does not automatically mean registration is unnecessary.

  • Mainland Companies

UAE mainland companies generally need to register unless an applicable exception applies.

  • Free Zone Companies

Registration generally applies even where a company expects to qualify for 0% tax treatment.

  • Individuals & Sole Proprietors

Individuals generally fall within corporate tax when UAE business turnover exceeds AED 1 million in a calendar year.

  • Foreign Companies & Branches

Requirements depend on the business’s UAE presence and tax status. UAE branches of domestic companies generally fall under their parent’s registration.

What Is Your Corporate Tax Registration Deadline?

There is no single deadline for every business. Your establishment date, entity type and tax status determine when you must apply.

What Is Your Corporate Tax Registration Deadline?
Your circumstancesGeneral registration deadline
UAE company established on or after 1 March 2024Within three months of incorporation, establishment or recognition.
UAE company established before 1 March 2024Historical deadlines depended on licence details and applicable rules. Outstanding registrations need prompt review.
Resident individual exceeding AED 1 million in annual business turnoverBy 31 March of the following calendar year.
Non-resident applicantRequires assessment under the relevant permanent-establishment, nexus or other applicable rules.

These are application deadlines. Allow time to prepare your information and supporting documents.

Missed Your Registration Deadline?

Start by checking your registration position and first tax period. A late application can attract an AED 10,000 penalty, but eligible applicants may benefit from the FTA’s waiver initiative.

The initiative generally requires the first corporate tax return to be submitted within seven months after the first tax period ends. Relevant exempt persons have an annual-declaration requirement.

Meeting the normal return deadline does not necessarily satisfy this earlier waiver condition. Valunxt can review your circumstances and help identify the action required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is corporate tax registration free?

The FTA does not charge a registration fee. Valunxt’s professional fees cover the agreed assessment, document preparation and application support.

Can I register through EmaraTax myself?

Yes. Applicants can complete registration directly through EmaraTax. Professional support can help you assess requirements, prepare documents and address application questions.

Do I need to register if my company has no profit?

Generally, a company subject to registration must still register even if it has no profit or no corporate tax payable. The AED 375,000 taxable-income band is not a general company registration threshold.

Does VAT registration cover corporate tax?

No. VAT and corporate tax have separate registration requirements. An existing VAT registration does not complete your corporate tax registration.

Do free-zone companies need to register?

Generally, yes. Registration is separate from eligibility for 0% treatment on Qualifying Income.

How long does FTA registration take?

The FTA lists an estimated processing time of 20 business days from receiving a completed application. Requests for additional information can affect the timeline.

Can a late-registration penalty be waived?

Eligible persons may qualify under the FTA initiative by meeting its conditions, including the earlier first-return or annual-declaration deadline. A waiver should not be assumed before reviewing eligibility.

What happens after I receive my registration number?

Check your registered details, maintain your financial records and prepare for your return obligations. Registration alone does not complete annual corporate tax compliance.
